Led By The Spirit #6 - Walking in Love

Last night was the final of a six week home group on "How to be led by the Spirit of God". We asked the question:

How do we pursue love? How are the works of the flesh different from the fruit of the spirit? Is being led by the spirit as simple as walking by our born-again nature? 

Love is the perfect motivation for operating in the callings of God. Jesus was moved with compassion and cast out devils, healed the sick and fed the five thousand. Jesus was motivated by compassion, a tangible love, growing out of His Spirit. And since we are born of God we have the same fruit of love growing up on the inside of us.

Led By The Spirit #5 - Discovering Your Calling

Last night was the fifth night of our six week home group on "How to be led by the Spirit of God". We asked the question:

What are the different callings in the body of Christ and how can I discover what God has called me to?

God is our Father and every Dad longs to see His child grow up and take part in the family business. Our Father has designed a calling specific to us and given us supernatural grace to fulfill it.

Many people call their service a calling. Everyone is called to serve, and the more you serve then the greater you are in God's kingdom. We can all serve and mow the lawn, vacuum the floor, hand out tracts. If we are musical then we can serve in the music team but that still doesn't make a calling.

God has designed eight operations in the body of Christ and called every family member to fulfill one of those operations, and when every part does it's share then the whole body is build up and grows.

Freedom through Hearing, Believing and Acting on God's Truth

If you catch a flea and put it inside a glass jar it will jump straight out. If you put it inside a glass jar and put a lid on the jar then the flea is trapped but doesn't know it. It will try and try to jump out but only hit its head on the lid. Eventually the flea will adjust the height it is jumping so it ALWAYS jumps just below the lid. When this has happened you can then remove the lid and the flea remains trapped forever. It's no longer trapped by the lid but by the prison in its own mind. The flea has tried for so long and failed that it knows things will never change.

But you're not a flea and God doesn't want you to be like a flea. You don't have to remain trapped by the past. You can break free.
